Saab 99 - Yet another victim fallen to the power of the Viggen Syndrome.
Once upon a time, waaay back in the 70's a young mans' mother came home with a green SAAB 99. It was a '73 model, and 3 weeks after getting his license, said young man totaled that poor car, but it valiently gave up its life for that of four teenagers, one stupid one, and his three friends. Shortly thereafter his mother bought another Saab, much like the one you see below. I have wanted a classic car for ages.. being in my mid forties, it is my birth right.... some of the 50 and 60's cars sure are sweet, but I had no connection with them. Last year my son got a 1975 99. We picked it up in Pennsylvania, and trailored it home to Maine, where expect for a couple of small problems, it has provided daily transport for him.

I found my self with some extra funds... actually sold ownership in something and put most of it back into my business, but decided to treat myself. Below is Orange, who's tale you are about to read... hopefully I can uncover its' complete history someday.

I am buying from Greg & Robyn Jensen, autodetailers who have owned the car for 3 years. They have kept it in immaculate shape. Their mechanic also happens to be the previous owner, Dave Snyder, who many in the Rocky Mountain Saab Club know to be a sheer Saab nut. He got the car in 1989, it ran, it had a hatch... poof! Instant shop car. It did duty that way for a few years, until Dave decided to "do some work to it" and overhauled the drive train, with all the needed bits being renewed and replaced, including the notorius water pump. Once that was done that car perfromed as shop car for a while more, before dave got the twitch and decided he should "do something" with Orange... and that turned out to be a stripdown repaint. Greg says you won't believe the paint job is 9 years old!. I believe him...

On Thursday next I fly out to Colorado to pick up the car and drive it back to Maine... 2100+ miles.

Once I have the car back to Maine, I'll re-do the site with more pics and better layout.. for now,, its this text and some huge pics... enjoy!
